The toll in heavy rains lashing Tamil Nadu over the last four days touched 21, with five more deaths being reported on Sunday, in Ramanathapuram and Dindigul districts.
Official sources said, two people were electrocuted in Ramanathapuram, while three died when a wall collapsed on them in Dindigul.
Meanwhile, the government declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Theni, Nilgiris and Karaikal tomorrow in the wake of the incessant rains.
The sources said Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi, held a review meeting with officials at the Secretariat for the second consecutive day to take stock of the situation.
The meteorological office had earlier in the day said, there was likely to be a decrease in rainfall in the next few days as the low pressure area lying over Comerine near Kanyakumari had moved northwards.
