Salem city and its surrounding areas experienced showers for some time in the evening. The sky remained overcast throughout the evening session. Vazhappadi experienced the maximum rainfall of 57 mm in the last 24 hours that ended at 8 a.m. on Thursday, followed by Salem city 1.9 mm and hill station of Yercaud 1.2 mm.
Convocation
The annual convocation of Noorul Islam Arabic College at Suramangalam in the city will be held here on May 18. Moulvi N. P. Usman Mohiuddin Baqavi, Principal, Baqiathus Salihath Arabic College, Vellore, will be the chief guest and he will distribute ‘Moulvi’ ‘Qari’ and ‘Hafiz’ Sanads (degrees) to 15 students who had completed these courses, a release of the college said.
