Railways intensifies technical patrolling along Tirupur-Ingur

September 03, 2010 12:28 am | Updated 12:28 am IST - Tirupur:

Chief Security Commissioner of Railway Protection Force (Southern Railway) G.M. Prabhu Rajasekhar Reddy said that the Railways have taken serious note of the incidents in which stones are found on the tracks in Tirupur district.

Investigation is progressing accordingly, even though the stones are not big enough to cause extensive damages, he said.

“As a precautionary measure, ‘technical patrolling' along Tirupur-Ingur stretch has also been intensified along with the regular open line patrolling by which gang-men were assigned additional shifts to periodically monitor the tracks for any technical fault,” he said.

This, according to him, is to rule out all the possibilities of any serious attempt to cause sabotage.

Special teams

Mr. Reddy was speaking to the reporters here on Thursday after carrying out inspection of track between Uthukuli and Vijayamangalam stations and then reviewing the investigation being carried out by the Railway Police into incidents in which trains hit stones and a concrete post kept on the tracks on Tuesday.

“We (RPF) are extending full support to the Railway Police officials, who have been investigating into the incident,” he said.

Railway Police IG K.C. Mahali said that five special teams had started investigation under the head of Railway Police Inspector of Podanur station S. Manickam.

He added that the investigators had interacted with the people in 23 villages situated alongside the stretches where the incidents took place and also with the railway staff in an attempt to get vital clues.Later in the day, Mr. Reddy and Mr. Mahali held discussions with the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Coimbatore range) Bala Naga Devi and Tirupur Superintendent of Police A. Arun.
