Railway mail service staff suspended

April 05, 2013 02:18 am | Updated June 10, 2016 06:27 am IST - TIRUCHI:

Four postal employees attached to Railway Mail Service (RMS) T- Division, Tiruchi, have been placed under suspension in connection with SSLC answer sheets found scattered on the railway track near Vriddhachalam junction last month.

A Mail Guard and three Multi Tasking Staff are the employees against whom action has been taken based on a preliminary inquiry into the incident, a top Department of Posts official from Chennai told The Hindu over phone.

Orders placing the four under suspension were issued by the Senior Superintendent of RMS, Tiruchi, for their negligence in ensuring safe custody of the bag containing the answer scripts.

A bundle containing SSLC answer sheets sent by the Education Department by the Kumbakonam-bound Rockfort Express was found on the railway track.
