BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi addresses a “public meeting” at Vandalur near Chennai on Saturday.

Contrary to expectation of that the venue would be buzzing with activities of supporters and meetings with leaders of allies, ITC Grand Chola Hotel, where BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was staying, remained unusually calm on Sunday morning.

After a day long hectic schedule commencing with a public meeting in Manipur and addressing another public meeting at Vandalur, a city outskirts on Saturday, Mr. Modi checked into the star hotel. A large posse of police personnel were guarding the premises throughout night till morning.

Apart from meeting BJP leaders Pon. Radhakrishnan, L.Ganesan and others, Mr. Modi did not have any high profile engagement in the morning. He left the hotel to participate in the ninth convocation of SRM University, at Kattankulathur.

Earlier, in the lobby, farmers associations led by MDMK MP Ganesamoorthy met Mr. Modi and submitted a memorandum seeking him to protect turmeric farmers interest in the country.
