After its hilarious take ‘What if Batman was from Chennai’, Put Chutney – which seems to have gained a fan following on its own right in the city, came up with ‘What if Avengers were from South India’ that coincided with the release of Avengers 2. If Batman – which has logged more than 2 million views – featured character artiste Delhi Ganesh, Avengers had director and actor Manobala as ‘Fury Jagannath.’

The video has Manobala delivering a couple of punch lines in his typical style and creating SHIELD – the super hero immediate employment liaison department a mobile app for people to hire superheroes.

The video has dialogues in all the four South Indian languages

Put Chutney since then released a few more videos – Road side stories on the drinking scene in Chennai and Badava Gopi commentary on a tea stall with the popular RJ giving a funny commentary on the making of popular snack ‘bhajji’ and a day in the life of an HR professional.

The producers of funny videos also came up with a video on Mother’s Day – featuring Uma Padmanabhan that struck an emotional cord with audiences and receiving positive feedback.

The videos seem to have touched the pulse of audience in the city, especially in the road side stories on the city’s drinking scene.

Portraying love, affection with a different cast

Raj Television Network has launched two tele-serials this summer. ‘En Thangai’ starring actor director R. Pandiarajan has already touched 15 episodes with good response from the audience.

Directed by Mangai Harirajan, ‘En Thangai’ revolves around family head Pandiarajan and his sisters.

The bond between brother and his sisters is not new to audiences.

R. Pandiarajan, who plays a ferry contractor in Hogenakkal, has donned a new hat and the story weaves around his sacrifices.

This is the first full time serial for Pandiarajan to take up a lead role.

“It is a new experience to work with small screen artistes and director Mangai Harirajan, who has put in lot of efforts in bringing out the best from all of us,” he says.

The serial is on air from Monday to Saturday at 6.30 p.m.

Another serial, ‘Azhagiya Laila,’ depicts a love story of a girl Parvati with Rudra, an army officer. N. Gopinath, who watches the serial regularly says: “If the story is strong and screenplay is crisp, I do not mind watching them. Currently television producers have learnt the art of keeping their audience before a TV set for a particular time slot watching their favourite artistes in full flow.” Azhagiya Laila is on air from Monday to Friday at 9.30 p.m.
