When a man is made to suffer, he will start to think out-of-the-box to come out of it, says Nanjil H. Meeran Moideen, owner of a mobile puncture mending unit here.

Mr. Moideen, who has studied up to SSLC, thought of starting a mobile unit to mend punctured tyres of two-wheelers, following his own suffering. The innovative entrepreneur hailing from Krishnankoil in Nagercoil, started the unit on January 4, 2014, after he decided not to return to Dubai, where he worked for three years.

Though he was discouraged by friends and relatives, the business started to flourish soon. Initially, friends and relatives started calling him for mending punctured tyres but soon word spread all over Nagercoil and outskirts.

On an average, he used to receive 25 to 50 calls daily. As the calls increased, he introduced three others into the business. A moped was customised to carry air storage tanks for filling air for 24 wheels, a tool kit and a water can. He charges Rs. 100 per wheel within Nagercoil town and a little extra for suburbs. But it is Rs. 70 per wheel for differently abled people. He mends tyres of 15 to 20 vehicles a day.

Mr. Moideen says that soon he will start a network of mobile units across the district, to mend flat tyres of two-wheelers on the roadside. He can be contacted at 98437 58861.
