Public Prosecutor takes charge

S. Shunmugavelayutham, a senior advocate, on Thursday took over as the Public Prosecutor, Madras High Court.

He succeeds I. Subramanian, who resigned.

Hailing from Thisayanvilai in Tirunelveli district, the 62-year-old Mr. Shunmugavelayutham has 37 years of experience at the Bar.

He studied law at the Madras Law College in 1975.

He served as Additional Public Prosecutor, Madras High Court, from September 1991 to October 1996.
