Even though the protest against the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) and the indefinite fast by the struggle committee convener and 16 others are continuing at Idinthakarai, the coastal hamlet is limping back to normality.
After the protesters created several hurdles on the road to deny the police a smooth entry into the village for arresting their leaders, the supply of essential commodities and operation of bus services into the hamlet had been affected. Now, granite boulders, pillars and thorny bushes laid across the road between Idinthakarai and Vijayapathi have been removed and the trenches filled even as similar hurdles between Tsunami Colony and Vairaavikinaru remain in place.
The protest venue received special guests on Saturday. The struggle committee convener S.P. Udayakumar's parents, wife and children met him in the morning.
A team of doctors examined Dr. Udayakumar and others, who are observing indefinite fast since Monday.
