Protests across districts against ‘Rath Yatra’

Nearly 2,100 persons picked up in Vellore, Tiruvannamalai

Cadre of various political parties staged protests across Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts against the ‘Ram Rajya Rath Yatra’ that entered the State on Tuesday. They also condemned the arrests of Opposition party leaders.

In Vellore district, cadre belonging to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi, Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam and Social Democratic Party of India staged protests in as many as 45 places. They protested against the State government for allowing the ‘yatra’ into the State and arresting their party leaders for showing the opposition.

Nearly 1,100 persons were picked up for staging protests including road roko across the district. In Tiruvannamalai district, nearly 1,000 persons were picked up for staging protests in around 30 places.
