The trial in cases booked against AIADMK(Amma) general secretary V.K.Sasikala and her nephew V.Bhaskaran nearly two decades ago for funnelling funds to foreign countries through unauthorised channels is set to begin on July 13.

Sasikala and her nephew Bhaskaran were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on June 20, 1996. The charge against them was that Sasikala being the chairperson of the company called JJTV Private Limited authorised Bhaskaran, who was the company’s managing director, to enter into agreement and transact money with the individuals or companies in foreign countries in Malayasia, Singapore and the Philippines.

Denies charges

While Ms. Sasikala appeared through video-conferencing facility from Parapana Agrahara Prison, Bengaluru, where she is serving four years imprisonment for amassing wealth disproportionate to known source of her income, Bhaskaran appeared in person. Both of them denied charges of the Enforcement Directorate.
