Prepare for Parliament elections: Stalin

January 10, 2013 02:29 pm | Updated 02:29 pm IST - Tirupur:

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam treasurer and former deputy chief minister M.K. Stalin called upon his party colleagues to be prepared for the Parliament elections at any time by chalking out ways at the grassroot level to win the Tirupur constituency.

Citing the Assembly segment-wise break-up of votes gathered by the DMK-Congress alliance in the last Parliament polls, where the Congress candidate lost out to the AIADMK rival, Mr. Stalin reminded the party workers that through hard work, the loss by more than 80,000 votes last time could be easily turned into a victory in the forthcoming elections.

Mr. Stalin was addressing a meeting of DMK functionaries in Tirupur Parliamentary constituency limits, near Perumanallur on Wednesday.

“DMK is a party that never gets bogged down by losses. We take wins and losses in the same spirit. The party also functions on the principle of taking view points from every member for improving its performance not only in electoral battles but also in carrying out welfare for the people,” he said. Mr. Stalin said the power crisis in the State would not have become worse in the levels witnessed today if the present government had expedited the completion of projects initiated during previous DMK regimes. Senior leaders M.P. Saminathan, Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan, S. Muthusamy, N.K.K. Periyasamy, C. Govindasamy, N.K.K.P. Raja, and K. Selvaraj took part.
