Power generation from the third and the fourth units of Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS), which remained on standby, resumed at 4.30 a.m. on Monday.

On a directive from Load Despatch Centre, these two units were lit up on Sunday evening, sources told The Hindu .

Demand for electricity consumption had gone up, and to meet the growing demand, power generation was initiated at the two units. Now, power generation was in full swing in all five units of the TTPS, with a generation capacity of 210 MW each, the sources said.

Wind power generated from windmills in Aralvaimozhi, Muppandal, Shencottah and Kayathar areas came down to 1,374 MW at 7.30 a.m. on Monday, and it was around 1,300 MW at 3 p.m., sources in Tirunelveli Circle of Non-Conventional Energy Source, TANGEDCO, said.

On Sunday, 2,000 MW of wind energy was generated in the circle, and on Saturday the production was 2,180 MW, sources added.
