Poultry farmers in the district were asked to test the drinking water before feeding to the birds.
A weather advisory bulletin from Agromet Field Unit of Veterinary College and Research Institute here and Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai said that the sky will be slight cloudy for the next four days with maximum and minimum temperature around 36 degree centigrade and 24 degree centigrade respectively. Hence, the summer stress in poultries will be more and summer management practices should be adopted to protect the birds, the release said.
Post-mortem observations in the birds brought for diagnostic purpose at Poultry Disease Diagnosis and Surveillance Laboratory at the institute showed death of birds due to E. Coli and upper respiratory tract infection. Hence, farmers were asked to test water for E. Coli contamination.
