Pot-makers demand early settlement of promised relief

Members of Erode District Kulalar Educational Trust consisting of pot and clay article makers submitted a petition to the district administration resenting the delay in handing over the relief promised last year by the State Government for the community members during monsoon months.

According to the petitioners, several hundreds of their community members in the district had not received the promised amount of Rs. 4,000 each, to compensate for the absence of income generation activity during rainy season.

Scrutinised

Though the applications were scrutinised by the officials of the Khadi Village Industries Board through personal inquiries, there has been no response to the queries from the community members, the petition submitted by president of Tamil Nadu Manpanda Thozhilalar (Kulalar) Sangam N.C. Venkatachalam said.
