A one-day training-cum-demonstration of Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) was organised here on the Revenue Divisional Officer’s campus on Tuesday. The training was imparted for officials, including 25 zonal officers and 25 assistant zonal officers, entrusted with election duties for Krishnagiri Assembly constituency. The VVPAT as a method of providing virtual feedback to voters to verify the ballot cast was being deployed in select constituencies in the State. The voter can verify the vote cast on a monitor, but a slip of the same shall not be issued. VVPAT may help avert tampering with the EVMs. Among the six Assembly constituencies in the district, Krishnagiri Assembly constituency will use the VVPAT system for the EVMs in 299 voting booths here.
A total of 371 VVPAT machines are being used for the purpose. Earlier, a first round trial of VVPAT was conducted.
A technical support team from Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru, conducted the training programme.
