City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu on Wednesday had a surprise visitor when 16-year-old Aravindhan came to him seeking help to stay in a home and continue his studies.
The boy, accompanied by his neighbours working as goldsmiths Rajkumar and Suresh, appealed to Mr. Sylendra Babu to help him continue his studies as his father Nagaraj was keen to send him for work. Aravindhan ever since his birth was kept at his uncle's place where he had completed till tenth standard.
After his uncle met with an accident last year, he came to live with his parents in Coimbatore. The boy's father convinced him to work for a year. Irked by the boy's insistence to study further, the father, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, had bashed him up.
Mr. Babu referred the boy to Child Welfare Committee, which arranged for his stay in Don Bosco Anbu Illam. He arranged for funds through his friends in the U.S.
