The Pattali Makkal Katchi has vowed to put an end to the alternative rules by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

They have decided to form government in the 2016 Assembly elections and create a liquor-free and corruption-free Tamil Nadu. A resolution to this effect was passed at the PMK North Zone Political Conference held at Pallikonda near here on Sunday night.

The conference pointed out that the farmers who were rich prior to the emergence of the Dravidian rule in 1967 had become impoverished after nearly 50 years of alternative rules by the DMK and AIADMK.

These governments had “surrendered the riparian rights in the Cauvery River” resulting in the river becoming dry and the Palar becoming a desert due to the construction of dams by neighbouring states.

Therefore a number of agricultural lands have been converted into housing sites by the farmers.

State of Government schools

In a state which produced the likes of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Arcot Ramasamy Mudaliar, Arcot Lakshmanaswamy Mudaliar, Sir C.V. Raman and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who were all products of government schools, the government schools are being closed in a phased manner today owing to the flourishing of the private schools.

The education system which created scientists and scholars previously was now creating book worms. Both the DMK and the AIADMK are squarely responsible for this situation, the conference pointed out.

Industrial development

The conference noted that with industrial development was slipping to a minus 1.3 per cent level in Tamil Nadu. Instead of industrialists coming to the state to set up industries, industrialists in Tamil Nadu were shifting their business to Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. “Tamil Nadu topped only in liquor sales and corruption. ”.

Palar unprotected

The conference stated that neither any step has been taken by the successive governments to get the check dams constructed by the Andhra Pradesh government removed nor to prevent the illegal mining of sand from the Palar River in Vellore, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts and their smuggling to Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and protect the Palar River.

Irrigation lakes have turned `seemai karuvelam’ (prosopis juliflora) forests, resulting in a drastic depletion of the groundwater table in these districts.

The conference stated that the PMK alone is capable of removing the above ills as well as the ills of alcohol addiction, economic backwardness and debt burden plaguing the poor.

The party can put Tamil Nadu on the path of progress under the leadership of its youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss.

Dr. Anbumani said that if the PMK comes to power, it will not give freebies such as mixies, grinders and gold for `thali’, but would provide free education and health care to the people.

The conference stated that no step has been taken by govts. to stop illegal mining of sand from the Palar
