PMK to support BJP bandh in TN

July 22, 2013 08:35 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:54 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Cutting across party lines, political leaders on Sunday condemned the killing of BJP’s State general secretary V. Ramesh, while Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader S. Ramadoss extended support to the bandh called by the BJP on Monday.

In a statement here, Dr Ramadoss said though a representation had been made to the State government to provide security to the leaders of political parties who were under threat, no action has been taken so far.

“The indifference of the State government is responsible for the murder of Ramesh and other political murders,” he alleged.

MDMK general secretary Vaiko said it was barely twenty days ago Vellaiyappan, secretary of the Hindu Munnani and a friend of Ramesh, was murdered and even after the incident, the police failed to wake up to the situation and provide security to the BJP State general secretary.

“In a democracy, everyone has the right to hold a view.” he said.

Urging the State to take steps to arrest the murderers immediately, CPI(M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan demanded that such murders be prevented.

The Manithaneya Makkal Katchi also condemned the killing.
