PMK spreading lies: Thirumavalavan

August 19, 2016 02:17 am | Updated 02:17 am IST - CHENNAI:

VCK chief Thol. Thirumavalavan has denied accusations made by PMK founder S. Ramadoss that he is “instigating Dalit men to entice non-Dalit women”.

Addressing a meet here, he alleged that Dr. Ramadoss and the PMK are pursuing a politics of hate. Stating that PMK was spreading lies about the VCK, he said, “I will never encourage Dalit men to ‘entice women by wearing jeans and T-shirt’. If I ask my cadre to pursue women, my own mother will not approve of it. The PMK is spreading outright lies.”

Speaking about his comments in a recent video, he said, “I had said that these people are only concerned about ‘women’s love lives’ immediately after Gokul Raj’s murder. I was referring to the party indulging in hate politics, not the members of any community.”

"I urge the party cadres to not react rashly to provocation by caste Hindus — especially on social media — and just ignore them,” he said.

Defending Ravi Kumar’s statement hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comments against ‘Gau Rakshaks’, he said, “We know that Modi is shedding crocodile tears and we know that he didn’t include Muslims as worthy of protection. I also understand that this is an effort to break Dalit-Muslim unity.
