AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Monday said the quitting of the Pattali Makkal Katchi PMK from the AIADMK alliance was no loss to her party.
Talking to reporters at the party headquarters after returning from Kodanadu, Ms. Jayalalithaa also declined to comment whether the Left parties were still part of the AIADMK alliance.
“You better ask them,” she said.
When her comments were sought on PMK leader Dr. Ramadoss’ allegation that his party had lost its self-respect by aligning with the AIADMK and her party had no future, Ms. Jayalalithaa said she would not attach any importance to the comments of Dr. Ramadoss.
“I don’t like to degrade myself by responding to him,” she added.
Asked whether the party had approached any political parties for alliance, he said it could be discussed at the time of elections.
She made it clear that she had not opened any channels with actor Vijyakanth’s Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam (DMDK).
Ms. Jayalalithaa described as “premature” the announcement of the Nobel Committee to award the Nobel Prize for Peace to U.S. President Barak Obama.
“It is too early for such an award. Mr. Obama has not achieved anything. The world has not witnessed the impact of his policies. The award has been announced in a hurry,” she said.
