PMK not to support bandh

July 04, 2010 12:12 am | Updated November 07, 2016 10:47 pm IST - CHENNAI:

PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Saturday said the party did not support the July 5 nation-wide strike, call for which has been given by the Opposition parties to protest against the hike in prices of petroleum products.

In a statement here, he said a meeting of his party leaders had decided neither to participate in the agitation nor support it.

The party had stated that the government should have avoided the hike in prices, particularly of kerosene and cooking gas. The PMK would continue to fight for this cause. The issue should be taken up only on public fora and strike and bandh, which affected people, should be avoided, he said.
