PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday presented a 206-page dossier to Governor Banwarilal Purohit, listing corruption charges against the AIADMK government.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, he said that Governor promised that he would take action if there was truth in the allegations. “There is corruption in every department. Officials are corrupt at all levels. I have presented over 24 charges of corruption. The most important is illegal sand mining,” said Mr. Anbumani.

Claiming that the total revenue generated by Tamil Nadu government since nationalisation of sand quarries in 2003 by the then Jayalalithaa government was just ₹2,000 crore, he said, “Annually, illegal sand mining corruption alone is ₹ 25,000 crore. We have given details,” he claimed.

“Had the then Governor Rosaiah taken appropriate action on corruption when we gave a representation, the situation wouldn’t have become so bad,” he said, alleging that corruption in beach mining ran into several crores in over a decade. Gutkha scam, granite scam are two other examples, he said, adding that corruption existed in higher education as well.
