Arputhammal, mother of A.G. Perarivalan, one of the life convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, has petitioned Commercial Taxes Minister K.C. Veeramani seeking her son’s transfer to Puzhal prison to facilitate his medical treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai.

Arputhammal, 74, submitted a petition to the Minister on Saturday. “I had sent a petition to the Tamil Nadu government’s Home Ministry seeking to grant three months’ parole for Perarivalan as both he and his father had health problems. But no measure was taken. I again sent a petition seeking parole as he was not keeping well,” she said.

Perarivalan, 45, who has spent 26 years in jail, is being treated for high blood pressure, orthopaedic and urological problems.
