The Madras High Court has ordered notice to the CMDA and the Greater Chennai Corporation on a plea alleging that the Nadigar Sangam Charitable Trust and the South Indian Artistes Association had encroached upon a 33-foot public road connecting Habibullah Road and Prakasam Street.

The plea has been moved by K.M. Srirangan and R. Annamalai, residents of Vidhyodaya colony, T. Nagar.

They said the colony had two approach roads to reach Habibullah Road, one through the Kodambakkam High Road and another through the road connecting Habibullah Road and Prakasam Street. The second one being shorter, most of the residents and schoolchildren used it to reach the colony. “But now residents of the colony and the public are prevented from using the road by the trust and SIAA.”
