Plea against Tharoor’s election dismissed

May 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 12:20 pm IST - KOCHI:

A petition challenging the election of Shashi Tharoor as Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram was dismissed by the High Court of Kerala on Wednesday.

Justice P. Bhavadasan observed that the petition, filed by BJP Thiruvananthapuram district president S. Suresh, was devoid of material facts.

The petitioner had stated that Mr. Tharoor had suppressed the information on wealth devolved on him following the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar and his nomination was invalid. The judge observed that there was no whisper in the petition as to the assets which Mr. Tharoor deliberately concealed or not disclosed at all.
