A bill collector with Tangedco office at Palacode was temporarily suspended for alleged misappropriation of funds here on Wednesday. Thangavel had reportedly collected money to the tune of Rs. 2.5 lakh from the consumers. On the said date, the printer was dysfunctional and Thangavel had assured the consumers that the bill would be made towards the payment. However, the consumers, who had paid on that particular counter, were faced with disconnection of power for non-payment of bill. Following this, the consumers lodged a complaint at the Tangedco office. An internal inquiry revealed that the money collected was never shown in the books.
