PIL plea filed against Kudankulam units 3 & 4

“They have not complied with norms related to creation of sterilized zone”

The Madras High Court on Friday sought the response of Chairman of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and Site Director of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) to a public interest litigation petition accusing them of proceeding with the third and fourth units of KKNPP without complying with norms related to creation of ‘sterilized zone’ and ‘exclusion zone’ around the plants.

Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M. Sundar ordered notices, returnable by September 15, to them as well as the Centre and Atomic Energy Regulatory Board. G. Sundarrajan, Managing Trustee of Poovulagin Nanbargal had filed PIL petition.
