The phase-II of data collection for the National Population Register (NPR), which includes photographing, biometric fingerprint registration, and iris session, was launched in Bahour on Saturday.

According to a release issued by Director of Census Operations Hage Kojeen, a database has been created for the Union Territory with the information collected between June 1 and July 1, 2010. Acknowledgement slips were also issued to all households following the enumeration.

Mr. Kojeen said that the slips have to be produced during the second phase and it was compulsory for all persons to register their photograph, finger biometry and iris as per the Citizenship Act.

The release also requested the people to cooperate with the officials and participate in the creation of the NPR.
