April 12, 2011 02:10 am | Updated 02:10 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Government Advocate told the Madras High Court on Monday that after an enquiry, if a cognisable offence is made out, the police will register a case against K. Kuppan, AIADMK candidate in the Tiruvottiyur Assembly constituency, against whom a complaint has been filed. The submission came when a petition by one K. Kuppan, an independent candidate in the constituency, came up for hearing before Justice C.T. Selvam.

The petitioner alleged that the AIADMK nominee had given false details regarding his educational qualification.

He presented a complaint dated April 5 to the Chennai Police Commissioner. So far, no case had been registered. Hence, the present petition. Recording the government's submission, the Judge disposed of the petition.
