Periyar statue vandalised in Pudukottai

A statue of Periyar was found damaged overnight at Pudukottaividuthi village on Tuesday morning. Police sources said the statue’s head was damaged by unidentified persons.

The statue was installed near the Panchayat office in 2013.

The police are conducting an investigation into the incident. Police personnel have been posted at the village as precautionary measure to prevent any further untoward incident.
