Principal District and Sessions Judge R. Poornima on Friday adjourned the temple pujari suicide case till Saturday as Public Prosecutor (PP) B. Mohan sought more documents from Periyakulam Judicial Magistrate Court and the office of Theni Superintendent of Police.

She also granted time for defence counsel M. Kannappan to file counter affidavit on the petition filed by the PP. Mr. Kannappan assured the court that he would file the counter on Saturday.

Earlier, Mr. Mohan said that the deceased had filed a case against Vengidusamy and Palanisamy in Periyakulam Judicial Magistrate Court and also submitted a petition to the Theni SP on May 7, 2012.

The PP wanted those documents to proceed with the case.

All the accused, except O. Raja, brother of Finance Minister O. Paneerselvam, and all the police officers connected to the case were present in the court.

The case pertains to the suicide of S. Nagamuthu (22) of T. Kallupatti village, a Dalit, who worked as pujari in Sri Kailasanathar Hill Temple in Periyakulam on December 8, 2012, after he was allegedly subjected to harassment.
