The AIADMK and MDMK on Wednesday walked out from an all0party meet convened by the District Election Officer and Collector to discuss the revised electoral roll in Pennagaram Assembly constituency, protesting against non inclusion of ‘deleted’ list of voters in the revised list.
Representatives of AIADMK, DMK, PMK, DMDK, Congress, CPI and CP(I) M attended the meet.
When the Collector P. Amudha gave details of the electoral rolls, the MDMK representative R. Chinnasamy urged him to include the deleted list of voters, to which he replied that all had been accounted for as per the revised list
Party representatives urged the administration to release the electoral list after including the names of deleted 28,000 voters.
The Collector said it could not be done as these voters were physically not present in the constituency. Officials had conducted cent per cent verification as per the Election Commission’s instructions, he said.
Taking objection to this, Mr. Chinnasamy walked out and was followed by the AIADMK representative.
AIADMK district secretary T. R. Anbazhagan alleged that officials had not properly verified the deleted lists and were deliberately avoiding the inclusion, citing vague reasons.
He said his party has already filed a complaint with EC and was collecting affidavits from eligible genuine voters from the constituency, which would be soon be submitted to the State Electoral Officer.
