A total of 1,068 persons got house site pattas under a special scheme at a function held here recently.

N. Subramanian, Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare, said that the extent of the area regularised through the scheme was 26.12 acre.

The market value of the property was Rs.228 crore against the guideline value of Rs.58.35 crore.

He said this was the second phase of distribution of house site pattas to the needy. In December 31 last year, a total of 1,080 persons had received house site pattas.

Steps were being taken to issue house site patta to 545 persons.

C. Manoharan, District Collector, said that a joint survey was taken by revenue and municipal officials and special teams were formed for ascertaining the nattham land for the past six months.

C. Vijayabaskar, MLA, said that due to the lack of land records, residents were unable to sell or take mortgage loan on their properties.
