Parents lay siege to school

January 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - NAGERCOIL:

Parents laid a siege to the Government High School at Payankuzhi near Eraniel on Tuesday seeking action against Headmaster Joseph Dhanapal for allegedly beating up three students.

The SSLC students, who were admitted to the Kanyakumari Government Medical College Hospital, lodged complaints at the police outpost. The Eranial police have registered a case against the Headmaster.

Over 50 parents staged a road blockade in front of the school demanding immediate action against the Headmaster. Police rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators.

A.S. Radhakrishnan, Chief Educational Officer, told The Hindu that the District Educational Officer would conduct an inquiry at the school. Suitable action would be initiated after receiving the inquiry report, he added.
