Former minister Panruti S. Ramachandran on Sunday said he would campaign for the AIADMK-Left combine in the Lok Sabha polls.

Talking to reporters after receiving the Anna award from Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, he said the progressive ideas of Anna was necessary for a regime change at the Centre.

"The change should not be like replacing one unwanted regime with another. The AIADMK-Left combine is abiding by the progressive ideals of Anna," said Mr. Ramachandran, who recently quit the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) and resigned from his MLA post.

Asked whether he would campaign for the alliance, he said he would do it and extend all possible help.

The Chief Minister also presented Periyar Award to Sulochana Sampath, Thiru-Vi-Ka award to writer Ashokamitran, Ambedkar award to Bishop M. Prakash, Kamaraj award to Ayyaru Vandaiyar, Bharathiyar award to K. Gnanasambandan, Bharathidasan award to Radha Chellappan and K.A.P. Viswanatham Award to V. Jayadevan.

Each award comprises Rs one lakh cash, a gold medal and a certificate.

CM Jayalalithaa has indeed matured as the mass leader. She knows how to pull and push out people. TN Government's decision to crown Panruti with Anna Award is a sagacious move by the CM. When he quit DMDK, Panruti told that he is retiring from public life as per the advice of the doctor. He now says that he will campaign for AIADMK for the Lok Sabha Polls. That is politics. Politics is a field where persons dabbling in it do not retire at all.

Amma need no support from person like Panruti. He is prone to disown the
party he join and the party he join will loose its lustre.! Better he
retire from active politics and remain fair to all parties Like former
minister Madhavan.Panruti, should contribute to the glory of the Tamils
and Tamilnadu. That much is enough for him and he is enough for that only
.Hardly he can strengthen any party he joins. He fail to make any impact
where ever he is.
