Former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who has been staying at the government-provided quarters ‘Thenpennai’ on Greenways Road here, has taken a house on rent in Alwarpet in Chennai.

The house, with a spacious garden area around it, is located on the First Street of Venus Colony in Alwarpet. It is only a few minutes away from the Poes Garden residence of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

The first house on the First Street of Venus Colony, when one turns left from Sriman Srinivasan Road, is getting ready for Mr. Panneerselvam and his family to move in. Though a pooja was performed on Thursday morning in the new house, the shifting isn’t complete yet, say AIADMK (OPS) sources.

Soon after Mr. Panneerselvam rebelled against AIADMK leader V.K. Sasikala (since jailed) , ‘Thenpennai’, allotted to him when he was Finance Minister, has been abuzz with activity. However, the State Public Works Department has asked him to vacate as he is no longer a Minister.
