The owner of a granite company, allegedly involved in illegal mining, has been remanded to 12 days judicial custody by a court here.

Judicial Magistrate Kannan remanded P R Palanisamy, owner of PRP Exports, to 12 days custody when he was produced before him on Sunday night after his surrender before police on August 18.

The Magistrate directed police to provide him proper medical treatment and ‘A’ class facilities in prison and expressed unhappiness for not producing him within 24-hours after his arrest.

However police said he was arrested only on Saturday night.

The magistrate also asked the police to admit him in the Government Rajaji hospital if necessary and provide him treatment.
