Apart from police and Central forces, the district administration has proposed to involve 22,583 officials during the polling for the May 16 Assembly election.
There will be 14,272 polling officials, 729 micro observers, 779 videographers/ webcasters, 2,931 booth-level officers, 801 zonal party staff, 801 drivers, conductors and cleaners of government vehicles and 2,270 service staff.
Random selection
Identification of the 14,272 polling officials through computerised random selection commenced at the Collectorate on Monday. The polling officials will receive the orders for poll-related training, which will commence shortly.
“While the teachers selected for election duty will receive training orders through the Department of Education, government officials will get it from the heads of their departments,” Collector M. Karunakaran said.
The polling officials will receive Form 12 for casting ‘postal votes’ along with the training orders and the filled in Form 12 should be handed over to the Returning Officer when they turned up for the first training session on April 24, the Collector said.
