Over 2,000 women receive assistance for marriage

As many as 2,436 women received marriage assistance, including cash, and gold for ‘thali’ in Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts on Thursday.

In Vellore, an event to distribute the marriage assistance was organised at the Collectorate conference hall. Labour Minister Nilofer Khafeel distributed cash and 4 gram gold to 2,093 women. . Of them, those who completed either SSLC or Plus Two received Rs.25,000 and 4 gram gold and those completed a degree received Rs.50,000 and gold. Cumulative worth of the assistance was Rs.10.37 crore.

District Collector C.A.Raman presided over the function. MLAs G.Lokanathan (K.V.Kuppam), P.Karthikeyan (Vellore), Nandakumar (Anaikkattu) and District Social Welfare Officer Santhi Maheswari participated.

In Tiruvannamlai district, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister Sevur S. Ramachandran distributed the assistance to 343 women. The total assistance was Rs.1.3 crore. Members of Parliament Seval V.Elumalai (Arani), R.Vanaroja (Tiruvannamalai), Kalasapakkam MLA R.Panneerselvam, District Panchayat Chairman M.S.Nainakkannu, Cheyyar Municipal Chairperson Pavai Ravichandran, panchayat union chairperson Vimala Mahendran and DSWO Umaiyal were present.
