A total of 2,28,966 children below the age of five will be covered by an intensified pulse polio immunisation campaign that will be held on January 28 and March 11 in Tiruvannamalai.

Collector K.S. Kandasamy, in a press release, said the children will be covered through 1,896 booths. A total of 7,546 staff will be involved in administering the drops.

Mr. Kandasamy recently held a review meeting with officials of the Health Department on organising the campaign in Tiruvannamalai. While the first round of immunisation will be held on January 28, the second will be held on March 11.

The staff will cover the children who were left out by conducting door-to-door checks from the following day. Village Health Nurses, anganwadi workers and NGOs will be involved in the campaign.

The booths will be set up at railway stations, bus terminals, and theatres. There will also be mobile booths to cover children.
