Organs of a brain-dead patient were harvested at KMCH Speciality Hospitals here on Tuesday and sent for transplant to hospitals in Coimbatore and Chennai.

Injured

Jothikumar (37), a construction worker, who sustained injuries after a fall from a two-wheeler, was first admitted in the Government Headquarters Hospital and subsequently shifted to KMCH where he was declared brain dead on Monday.

The patient’s wife Papathi and mother Gandhimathi obliged immediately for harvest of organs when the request was made by the medical team.

The eyes were transplanted in patients in Erode hospitals while the heart, lungs, kidney, and liver were transported to hospitals in Coimbatore and Chennai.
