E. Madhusudhanan announces the party's parliamentary board.

Days after the Sasikala faction of the ruling AIADMK constituted its governing council with its jailed leader as its head, the O. Panneerselvam faction of the party on Sunday followed suit, setting up its own governing council headed by presidium chairman E. Madhusudhanan.

“As per party rules, the general secretary alone has the power to nominate members to the governing council. Since the general secretary’s post is vacant now, as the party’s presidium chairman, I am hereby nominating members to the governing council,” Mr. Madhusudhanan said in a statement.

Other members include former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, organising secretary C. Ponnaiyan, Parliamentarians V. Maitreyan, R. Gopalakrishnan, R.P. Marutharajaa, J. Jayasingh Thiyagaraj Natterjee and B. Senguttuvan, legislators S. Semmalai, K. Pandiarajan, Manoranjitham Nagaraj and K. Manickam, functionaries Neelangarai M.C. Munusamy and S. Sheik Ayub.
