DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said all the powers of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) should be vested on the Cauvery Management Authority (CMA).

Talking to media persons after an all-party meet, Mr. Stalin said a resolution has been adopted in this regard.

He also demanded the release of water from the Mettur dam on June 12 for the cultivation of Kuruvai crops. “The State government should take steps to ensure that the water is released on that day. Otherwise, we will meet again to decide on the next course of action,” he added.

He also urged the Centre to bring down the price of petroleum and diesel. Asked about the proposal to close down 800 government schools, he said it had clearly exposed the the failure of the administration in Tamil Nadu.

The meeting also adopted a resolution urging the Centre to not to go ahead with the new proposal for cadre allocation based on the foundation course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie.
