A woman was killed and a farmer injured in a blast at a firecracker unit at Karapudayanpatti near Uppilliyapuram, about 60 km from here on Thursday evening.
The incident took place at the end of the day’s work when the victim, B.Shanthi (33), a labourer at Rama Vilas Fireworks, had gone to close the doors of the workshed.
M.Palanimuthu (60), a farmer who was at an adjoining field when the incident took place, sustained head injuries after being hit by a stone that flew from the unit.
