Idinthakarai, north of the Kudankulam nuclear power project site, was rocked by blasts on Monday, as a group hurled 40 country bombs indiscriminately to terrorise their rivals. The group went on the rampage for nearly 75 minutes since 8.15 a.m.

A. Vasanthi (49) of Idinthakarai suffered minor injury. The violence was a sequel to the damage caused to a fibreglass boat of Sebastian of Idinthakarai on Sunday. The attacking group also snapped the ropes anchoring a few more fish crafts, forcing Sebastian to file a complaint with the police. Angered by this, the culprits lobbed bombs indiscriminately in the places around St. Xavier’s Church near the village. A police team visited the spot and recovered two unexploded bombs. Sources said the difference of opinion over the continuation of the anti-KKNPP agitation made the village a divided house.
