One person was injured when the gelatin sticks hidden in garbage went off near Cheyyar on Thursday.
According to police, Velayutham of Ponniyamman Nagar in Moranam was setting fire to the garbage near his home. Suddenly some explosives went off injuring him and he was rushed to Cheyyar Government Hospital.
Moranam police found gelatin sticks hidden in the garbage. Police also seized 400 detonators and 505 gelatin sticks from the site. They also arrested one Ponnan and his son Balaraman of the same area on the charges of hiding those explosives in the garbage. They have license to sell explosives for digging well but the place of storing them was illegal, officials said.
