The district police have detained under preventive arrest, A Pakiyasamy of Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, who had executed a bond under Section 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) for keeping peace for one year and committed breach of peace during the bond period.

A. Pakiasamy (40) of R. S. Mangalam had executed the bond before the Tiruvadanai Tahsildar, on September 5 last year, for keeping peace for one year but violated the bond by assaulting the Correspondent of the Sacred Heart High school in Tiruvadanai on March 17.

After the police sent the FIR copy, the Tahsildar ordered his arrest under section 122 (1) (b) of Cr PC, police said. Soon after the arrest, he was taken to the Madurai Central prison to be lodged till September, the completion of the bond period, police said.

He was the third person to be arrested for violating the bond executed for keeping peace in the district.

The Police had earlier arrested P. Suresh (34), district secretary of All India Forward Block and D. Prabakar (40) of Baranur in Thirupalaikudi police limits.

Both of them violated the bond and were detained under preventive arrest, police added.

The district police have invoked section 107 Cr PC against more than 300 people, identified as “trouble mongers’ in the district since last year and more than 200 of them have executed interim bonds for maintaining peace.

This is an effective tool for maintaining peace in the communally-sensitive district, Superintendent of Police N M Mylvahanan said. Once they were booked under section 107 of Cr PC, they were brought under the police scanner and their movements were closely watched, the SP said.
