On the first day of counselling under sports quota, 335 engineering seats out of the 500 were filled.
Nithyalakshmi, the topper in sports quota category, chose Electronics and Communication Engineering at College of Engineering, Guindy.
On Monday, 516 candidates were called for counselling for which the cut-off was set at 50 marks as per the instructions in the booklet given to engineering aspirants.
The rest of the candidates were either absent or not interested, said officials.
On Tuesday, 474 students have been called for counselling for the remaining 165 seats under sports quota for which the government had increased the number of seats from 100 to 500 a few days ahead of the counselling.
Meanwhile, 1,846 students have been allotted engineering seats under the first phase of vocational counselling at the end of third day.
On the first day 545 students were called for counselling, 787 students and 673 students were called for counselling on day two and three. The first phase of vocational counselling ends on Wednesday.
