Following complaints that tickets in cinema theatres were being sold at exorbitant price for newly-released Tamil movies, revenue officials inspected theatres here on Friday. A team led by Salem Revenue Divisional Officer B. Lalithavathi verified the registers, tickets and also inquired with the audience. They also warned theatre owners not to sell tickets at higher price and asked them to sell only at the price printed on each ticket. They wanted the price of tickets to be printed and only these tickets sold to the audience. It is common in many of the theatres for the price of tickets not being printed. Only first and second class tickets are issued, with third class tickets not issued till screening of the film. In the absence of monitoring mechanism, the film-goers are forced to spend more if tickets are sold at higher prices. – Staff Reporter
